Rural Armenia feels like an old and authentic country where time stood still (in a good way) . Churches are overgrown with grass and trees, people eat tasty fruits and vegetables from their land and old history events still have a great impact on daily life. Tbilisi is a dynamic city where young good looking people stroll around in a relaxed atmosphere. We hope that our photos of Armenia depict the great impressions that this country left with us.
We loved all three countries of the Caucasus but it was Armenia that made the greatest impression on us. The country is facing a long lasting boycott from Turkey, angry over the Armenian genocide claim and Armenia is at a constant state of war with their rich neighbours Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh. Many Armenians have left the country for Europe and the US but those left behind make the best of it and seem to manage despite the difficulties. Most impressive part of our journey was the long scenic road to the South of the country that produced many great pictures with Soviet era cars, Iranian trucks, Donkey cards and Sheppard’s with their herd in a beautiful rough landscape. Many historic and often untouched structures are found on the way to add to the unforgettable beauty of Armenia.
