Photos - Tallinn
Tallinn was the first Capital city we stayed in during our 2007 camp holiday in the Baltic countries. We camped of the Tallinn City camping, situated close to the Beach and twenty minutes walking from the centre. We visited most of the communist era highlights like the Olympic harbour, TV Tower and KGB headquarters. We shot many photos of this beautiful city.
The Tallinn City Camping is not really tent friendly and most guests are Germans with campers. Tallinn is famous for the picturesque old town with the Raekoja plats (Old Town Square), old City Walls and Toompea Hill with cobble streets and the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Tallinn also has plenty to offer for those who like shopping and eating. Olde Hansa restaurant is a tourist trap but still a good choice to taste traditional Estonian food. There are two antique shops in the centre that sell Soviet memorabilia like posters, pins and Red Army gear. There are also enough attractions from the Soviet era, like the Linnahall Sports hall in the harbour build for the 1980 Olympics, the Maarjamae War Memorial, the Olympic harbour, TV Tower, KGB headquarters and Song Bowl. We did not visit the Tallinn Military Cemetery where the famous Bronze Soldier Monument was relocated to just a few month before our visit. So we have a good reason to come back to Tallinn in the near future!
