Comtourist visited the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius in 2006 and the former KGB headquarters was the most important place we wanted to see there. Visitors can decent in the prison complex of the former Lithuanian KGB building to be witness the terror that was unleashed on thousands of people. There is also exposition dedicated to the crimes of the Soviet occupiers against the people of Lithuania.
The Baltic countries were forced back into the Soviet Union after World War II and occupied until the fall of the Soviet Union. Stalin installed a brutal terror apparatus to suppress the Baltic people, 300.000 Lithuanians alone were deported to the Gulag in Siberia. The KGB headquarters in was the most feared building in Vilnius and is now turned into a museum. The museum exists of the former prison in the basement of the building and the Genocide Victims exposition. In the former prison there are cells from different periods on display. Other rooms that can be visited are the execution chamber, water cell, guard room, watch post, confinement cell, padded cell and new arrivals cell. The aim of the exposition is to remember the surfing of the Lithuanian people under the rule of the Soviet Union. There are many interesting exhibits like KGB spy equipment, uniforms and diploma’s for loyal citizens.
